Andy Boyd

CV

Andy has a PhD in Quantum Optics from Oxford University, and a Bachelors Degree in Physics from Manchester University, and initially worked in Royal Dutch Shell designing and deploying novel measurement technologies to support Shell’s Downstream, Upstream and Integrated Gas businesses. He build the first Community of Practice in Shell in 1989 (pre Internet) and since that time has become more and more involved with Knowledge Management in Royal Dutch Shell. Andy has lead the KM work in Upstream, Projects and Technology as well as in the Polyolefin Joint Venture with BASF ( where he initially explored Semantic technology to support Community activity). His current role is the leader of Royal Dutch Shell’s Knowledge Management Expertise Team which owns Shell’s KM Strategy and Solution , supporting the business deploying that and improves the solution with emerging approaches (such as Semantics and Knowledge Graphs)
