MSc. Michael van Bekkum (male) is a researcher for TNO in the field of semantics and interoperability of ICT. Specific research topics include (1) domain modelling in formal semantics, (2) linked data and semantic web technology and (3) future internet and data platforms. His experience in these areas extends to the domains of the staffing industry, various government organisations, healthcare, the agrifood domain and the manufacturing industry. His roles and activities include engineering semantic solutions, formal quality asssessment of ICT architectures and consultancy on sector specific standardization and national standardization policy. He has worked o.a. as a technology coach for SMEs/startups and future internet applications in the FIWARE accelerator project FICHe, (2) as an independent evaluator for future internet application proposals in the EU FI-PPP programme, as a (3) WP leader for interoperability standardization in engineering safety crititcal systems in the ARTEMIS JU CRYSTAL project and (4) as an engineer drafting semantic reasoning and knowledge representation in MRI systems in the ITEA3 Reflexion project. His involvement in an ndustry setting further includes (1) engineering an ICT proof-of-concept for an ontology-driven flexible assembly cell in hi-tech manufacturing in dutch fieldlab FLEXMAN, (2) drafting an architecture and common semantics for efficient data sharing in the hi-tech supply chain in dutch fieldlab SCSN.
